Elephants of Amboseli This park is famed for its elephants, including some of Africa's most impressive tuskers. When is the best time to visit Amboseli?
The dry months, June to October and January to February, offer the best game viewing as animals gather around the swamps. Kilimanjaro is clearest in the early morning and late afternoon, year-round. The rainy months of March–May and November are quieter and greener, with lower rates.
How do I get to Amboseli from Diani or Mombasa?
You can drive in a combined circuit with Tsavo, or take a short domestic flight to the Amboseli airstrip and go straight on a game drive. From Nairobi it's a scenic road trip. We'll recommend the best option for your time and budget.
How many days do I need?
Two nights is the sweet spot, giving you a full sunrise, sunset and day of game drives. Many guests combine Amboseli with Tsavo East, Tsavo West or the Masai Mara for a longer trip. We offer 3, 4 and 5-day options
Can I see the Big Five in Amboseli?
You'll have great chances of seeing elephants, lions, buffalo and, with luck, leopards. Rhinos aren't reliably found here. If a full Big Five list is your goal, we can pair Amboseli with the Masai Mara or Tsavo.
