In general you will find connections with 220-240 Volt (50-60 Hz) alternating current. This voltage is appropriate for Central European electrical appliances such as hair dryers, shavers and for charging batteries for video cameras and flashlights, etc. In some hotels and lodges, however, there are also connections for 110 volt shavers. To use the sockets, you need a 2- or 3-hole plug adapter, which you can buy in supermarkets in Nairobi or Mombasa. It is also possible to take a world adapter with you in your luggage from home. Please keep in mind that in many camps and lodges generators only provide electricity on an hourly basis.
